The Garratt Mansion, circa 1893, is nestled in the quiet island community of
Alameda, just twelve miles from San Francisco or Berkeley. The mansion has been operating as a
bed and breakfast for over 76 years. Its clientele have traveled the world over and recognize
the Garrett Mansion as a truly unique and special experience.
This magnificent mahogany balustrade with glass globe finial at the apex of the base landing
leads you along the elegant carved spindle stairway, to the "Garratt's Mansion" second story.
Next to this front entry is the stained glass window that reflects the outside foyer light into
the front entry which takes the eye around the corner to behold decadence.

This grand and eloquent reception hall with leaded, hand-carved glass windows,
mahogany casing and a coved ceiling has been refurbished in the style of an ornate period English tea
parlor. All architectural elements are original and the antiques are upholstered in shades of
coral and green resembling a faded, yet rich, ensemble. Complementing the bow window sits the square
Steinway Grand Piano.

where breakfast is served each morning has created a more natural setting for nature to bring soft
blues and greens in with the morning sun.
